How to Care for Flowers in a Bouquet
1. Gently unwrap flowers, trim the Stems Right Away
Gently unwrap flowers.
Cut about 1–2 inches off the bottom of each stem at a 45° angle.
This increases surface area for water uptake.
Use sharp scissors or floral shears.
2. Remove Lower Leaves
Any leaves that will sit below the waterline should be removed.
Leaves in water = bacteria = faster wilting.
3. Use Clean Vase & Fresh Water
Wash the vase with soap and water before use.
Fill it with room-temperature water.
4. Place Them Right
Keep them in a cool spot, away from:
Direct sunlight
Drafts or vents
Ripening fruit (which releases ethylene gas that speeds up wilting)
5. Refresh Every 2–3 Days
Change the water.
Re-trim the stems.
Clean the vase if needed.
6. Remove Dying Flowers
As flowers fade, remove them to keep bacteria and mold from spreading.
